WHERE PEOPLE MEET – How we celebrate, sustain and reimagine community centres

New Report calls for investment in community centres

New Local in partnership with the Rayne Trust has launched an important new Report which makes a strong case for investment in community centres, demonstrating that;

‘Community centres are a core and enduring part of the UK’s social infrastructure. They are hubs of social connection, stewards of health and wellbeing, vital partners in their local ecosystems and important physical assets that communities can depend on.’

This report sets out what can be achieved if we celebrate, sustain and reimagine community centres for the future. It makes the case for meaningful investment, calling for their true value to be recognised and nurtured, stating that;

 ‘Communities thrive when people have spaces to gather, collaborate and share experiences. Spaces that foster a shared sense of belonging and nurture feelings of togetherness – which build the bonds that connect us to one another and to the places we live in.’
