Middleton Life
Local residents are invited to Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre to view the hard work of a group of local residents who were part of the Middleton Life local history project to explore their local heritage.
Exhibition panels celebrating Middleton's history and people's memories are on display, alongside a stained glass window celebrating the area's heritage and a fabulous wall hanging put together by pupils at Middleton Primary School. We've also got some rare photographs of old Middleton.
Group members, who attended a series of workshops and trips out as part of the project, also helped put together a special edition of the South Leeds Life magazine and contributed to the blog - www.southleedslife.com. They also conducted oral history interviews with fellow residents and put together a special Middleton history film, copies of which are still available at tenanta Hall Enterprise Centre.
In early 2013 the group restarted thanks to a Community First grant and they now meet on the first Wednesday of every month at Tenants Hall (10am-noon) to discuss local history. Guest speakers regularly appear and the group is putting together a special publication. All welcome to attend.
